It’s pretty common these days for people to make their own versions of popular ads and place them on sites like YouTube. But apparently, there’s more than just everyday people watching the ads.
Nick Haley, a university student from the UK, made an ad for the iPod Touch and put it up on YouTube, where it received a good deal of views – though nothing completely noteworthy. A few weeks later, Apple contacted him via email and told him they liked the ad and wanted to film it. Haley got to go to LA and work with the ad agency to shoot the commercial. Pretty cool. You can read more about the student here.
See, this is why people like Apple. I think it really boils down to this: they’re fun, and do cool stuff like this. Any company can hold an ad contest to get people to design ads, but here Apple takes it to the next level. Good stuff.
